Excellent instruction also requires curriculum research, vetting, design, and training. Our academic team at East Hills Academy has been working hard for months to ensure that we present a beautifully aligned curriculum that embodies the mission of East Hills Academy “to kindle a love of virtue and knowledge.”
However, excellent instruction also requires intentional framing, consistency, and thoughtfulness by the instructor. It demands an acknowledgment of a child’s innate need for belonging and trust. It also calls the professional instructor to be in a constant state of reflection, research, preparation, and problem-solving. The need for collaboration among staff members is insistent, and evaluation by both internal and external experts is necessary to advance academic growth.
Open communication among staff members and families is another important facet of excellent instruction. Likewise, transparency and accountability for academic results will build rapport within our community and give us a forward momentum of progress. On a personal note, the pillar of accountability to our stakeholders drives me to not only perform and model high-level professionalism and compassion, but to expect those qualities in our staff members as well.
