Why Does Knowledge Matter? (Our Focus on Kindling a Love of Knowledge)

Knowledge is important because one’s ability to thrive and contribute in a community requires a prerequisite set of skills. This truth has stood the test of time, as generations have embraced and built upon the knowledge of their ancestors.

Think of a gardener: Without a basic understanding of a plant’s needs, the gardener will face a nearly impossible task of growing tomatoes. Without knowing the answers to questions such as, “How much sunlight and water is required?” or, “How long does it take for the tomatoes to grow?” a gardener faces the daunting task of trial-and-error over an expanse of time. However, when a gardner receives knowledge, he is exponentially better equipped to not only nurture the growth of the plant, but also navigate the challenges of droughts and freezing temperatures.

Knowledge is a critical component for human flourishing. It provides an understanding of the world and helps us step into our callings with more resoluteness to cause positive change. East Hills Academy nurtures knowledge in our students through direct instruction, small groups, extensions, reteaches, and additional academic services.

We believe that all students can learn, and we have a responsibility to give them a rigorous education that equips them to serve in their communities.
